Softball Day Camp--Potsdam

SUNY Potsdam softball coach Shannon Dillabough will head up the inaugural Softball Day Camp July 6-10 at the SUNY Potsdam Softball Field. Softball players from across the North Country will join the Potsdam Bears coaching staff and players in this day camp for girls entering grades 7-11 this fall.

The camp runs from 9 a.m. until noon each day. The first part of the day will focus on building specific softball skills such as hitting, fielding and pitching through small group and individual instruction. During the second half of the session, campers will break into teams to play games.

Baseball Camp--Peru

The North Country Baseball Camp will be held July 14-18 at Laphams Mills Park in Peru. Camp hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 9 a.m.-noon on Friday. Tennis Instruction

The Greater Plattsburgh Community Tennis Association (GPCTA) will run a six-week youth tennis program, beginning the week of June 22. There will be three age levels: 4-6 (Munchkins), 7-10 (Half Volleys), 11-14 (Future Stars).

Chazy Summer Soccer Camp

The Chazy Summer Soccer Camp, for boys and girls ages 4-15, will be held June 29-July 3 with sessions running from 9 a.m. until noon at Chazy Central Rural School. The camp is open to residents and non-residents of Chazy.

Big Blue Hoop Camp

The annual Peru Indians Big Blue Hoop Camp, for boys and girls entering grades 1-9 in the fall, will be held July 6-10 on the Peru Central School Campus. The all-day camp will runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6-9 and from 9 a.m.-noon on Friday for players going into grades 3-9.
Mini-campers, or players entering grades 1-2, will meet from 9 a.m.-noon all week.

The cost of the camp is $110 for full-day campers (grades 3-9) and $55 for mini-campers. The cost includes a customized Rock basketball, customized Peru basketball t-shirt, a player evaluation, off-season workout and great instruction from a vast background of basketball minds.

A player can get the instruction, perks and highlights of a travel camp without the travel. The Camp Director is Matt Berry, Head Coach of the Peru Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team.

Soccer Camp on the Oval

The Lake Placid Soccer Centre & Soccer United Premier Club will sponsor a girls and boys camp July 27-31, 2009 from 9 a.m. to noon, on the Plattsburgh Oval. The 3-hour session will be for ages (7-17) at a cost of $125.

The camp will stress individual improvement, skill development and fundamentals as each camper will receive individual attention. Campers should come dressed with a t-shirt, shorts and basketball shoes.

Cost of the camp is $120 with a $50 deposit due at registration. Each camper will receive a t-shirt.

Kids Cook it Up--Plattsburgh Town

Attention all budding chefs! Team up with the Clinton County Health Department’s Eat Well Play Hard program and our own staff for a week long cooking extravaganza. Discover some kitchen skills while creating some tasty treats. You will
find that healthy, wholesome food can be yummy and easy to prepare. At the end of this class, you will leave with new culinary talents, as well as an apron and the Kids’ Favorites Made Healthy Cookbook. Bon Appetite!!

This program is offered to all kids ages 9-12. It will be held at the May Currier Park building July 27th-July 31st, 2009 from 11am to 1pm. Register by calling the Recreation Dept. by July 17th. Space is limited to 10 participants and will be filled
