Keeseville Ski Program 2012

The Keeseville Youth Commission is accepting applications for the 2012 ski program. The forms are available at the Town of AuSable Town Hall, North Country Club Restaurant or at the main office at AuSable Valley Central School and Keeseville Elementary School. The deadline is drawing near so please turn in information to the North Country Club Restaurant or contact Tonia Finnegan at 834-7363 for more information.

YMCA Basketball 2011-2012

The Plattsburgh YMCA Youth Basketball Program has begun registration, which will last until Dec. 8.

This is an eight-week program for boys and girls in grades 1st and 2nd (older kindergartners may also play). The program starts the week of Dec. 12.

Practices and scrimmages are held early evenings and/or Saturdays. There is a total of two practices/scrimmages per week.

Open to all communities.All participants receive their own YMCA basketball, T-shirt uniform and award. Lower baskets are used for this instructional, fun program. Volunteer coaches are needed.

City Basketball 2011-2012

The City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department has announced registration for the 2012 Youth Basketball Program. The program is open to all city youth in grades 3-8.

To register please log onto www.plattsburghrecreation.com.

Teams will participate in the Clinton County Youth Bureau League. Practices are expected to begin the first week of December, with games being held on Saturday mornings, starting Jan. 7.

The Recreation Department is in need of volunteer coaches to make this program successful. If you would be interested in coaching a team, please indicate it on your child's registration form. Saranac Basketball 2011-2012

The Town of Saranac will be holding registration for basketball (grades 1st through 6th) at the Town Hall from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 21 and 23.

A Youth Commission Meeting will be held prior to Mondays' sign-ups, starting at 6 p.m. Coaches are needed for the sixth grade girls and the first and second graders.

Peru Basketball 2011-2012

The Peru Youth Basketball Program will start this Saturday, Nov. 19, for the clinic portion of the program. All 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls will report at 9 a.m. for the two-hour clinic and the 5th and 6th grade boys only will report at 11 a.m. on the same day at the intermediate gym.

Peru Ski Club 2011-2012

The Peru Ski Club will be holding its final registration date on Dec. 1 at Town Hall from 6-7 p.m. The Ski Club is open to Peru Central School district students ages 7-18.

Cost for the entire program is $120 for six select Sundays. Cost includes six lift tickets and a two hour group lesson each week.

$85 nonmembers/$75 members. This fee includes clay, glazes, and firings. Older siblings can take this class as well.

Students will sculpt Safari Animals and then create a diorama depicting the environment of their clay animals. All Projects will be colored with glaze. The last of the 5 sessions will include a chance to try the wheel!

Peru Football Camp

The Peru Indians Youth Football Camp will be held from 9 a.m. until noon on Monday, July 25 through Thursday, July 28 at the Peru Central School Football Complex.

The camp is open to all area youths ages eight to 13 and will feature instruction in the fundamentals of football by present and past Peru coaches.

Outdoor Adventure Program

The Clinton County Youth Bureau and Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department will co-host an Outdoor Summer Adventure Program from August 10 to August 12.

This free three-day program will introduce youth, 14 years of age and older, to such skills as hiking, flat-water kayaking, map reading, environmental and historical issues, team work and outdoor leadership skills. Previous hiking and/or paddling skills are not required. The three-day program will consist of:

Wednesday, August 10: Paddle. Group will flat-water kayak on the Saranac River on Cadyville Beach. The group will learn basic flat-water kayaking skills including forward, reverse, sweep, brace, and sculling strokes. Group will also learn individual and team rescues.

Thursday, August 11: Paddle. Group will flat-water kayak approximately 7.5 miles down the Saranac River from Saranac to the Cadyville Beach. We will discuss; river paddling skills and how they differ from open water (lake) paddling.

Friday, August 12: Hike. Groups will be bussed to Poke-O-Moonshine to hike up this popular mountain.

All equipment will be provided. Being able to swim is required. Pre-registration is required by July 25. For further information on this program, or to pre-register, call the Clinton County Youth Bureau, at 565-4750, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily Monday through Friday.

Basketball Camp 2011

The Hornets' Basketball Camp will be held at the Plattsburgh High School gymnasium for all boys entering grades 7 to 9 from July 18 through July 22 and for boys entering grades 10 to 12 from July 25 through July 29.

Preseason Soccer Camp

Friends of North Country soccer will offer a 3-week preseason soccer camp and 6 vs. 6 jamboree for any players preparing for the Fall 2011 modified or JV soccer seasons.

The camp, which consists of a workout, skill sessions, 6 vs. 6 games and a cool down, will begin July 25 and run through Aug. 14. It will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. four to five nights per week and will be split between the Rouses Point Rec Center and Moores. Locations for different nights will be determined prior to the start of the camp.

Lake Placid Freestyle Camps

The New York Ski Educational Foundation (NYSEF) will offer three freestyle training camps at the Olympic Jumping Complex in Lake Placid this summer.

Camps will be offered July 16 through July 19, Aug. 1 through Aug. 5 and Aug. 13 through Aug. 15. Each camp will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are available to all skiers and snowboarders ages 10 and up. Rates start at $150 per camp.

All applicants must be USASA or USSA members. A USASA membership can be purchased online for $65.

Beekmantown Football Camp 2011

Description: This camp will teach participants various fundamental skills of the game of football. A stretching and form running program will begin each day, followed by throwing,
catching, and pass route activities. The camp will feature 7 on 7 passing games and
culminate in a "Skills Challenge" along with some carefully instructed tackling technique stations (using bags). Participants will be grouped by age levels and/or skill level. This is a non-collision camp. There will not be helmets; equipment necessary for participation should include sneakers or rubber cleats, form-fitted mouth guard, and a filled water bottle.

Beekmantown Volleyball Camp 2011

The Beekmantown Booster Club Volleyball Academy and Junior Digger summer camps will be held in July. The Junior Digger Camp (students entering grades 6 to 9) will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on July 11 to 14, M to Th. The Academy (junior varsity and varsity level) will be held from July 18 to 22 and July 25 to 29. Weekly rates are available.

Plattsburgh Soccer Camp 2011

The Plattsburgh Soccer Camp, which has three age options, now has its brochures in.

Option 1 runs from June 27-July 1 from 9-11 a.m. for ages 4-6.

Option 2 runs from July 18-July 22 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for ages 6-12.

Option 3 runs from July 18-22 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for ages 13-18.

The cost is $75 for Option 1 and $90 for Options 2 and 3.

Beekmantown Summer Camps 2011

The Town of Beekmantown will be accepting registrations for all summer camps, including swimming, fall soccer and winter basketball, starting June 2. These programs will be offered throughout the summer. Summer brochures will be available at the town hall, Beekmantown schools and local establishments. A fee will be charged to non-residents.

Parents are guardians must sign the registration forms, which can be downloaded at http://townofbeekmantown.com or can be picked up, filled out and dropped off at the town hall.

North Country Baseball Camp to be held July 11-15

PERU — The North Country Baseball Camp will be held at Laphams Mills Park from July 11 through 15. The camp is for students entering first through 12th grade in the fall. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday.

The cost is $150, which includes a t-shirt and a written evaluation. Returning campers will receive a 10 percent discount. Family and team rates are also available.

FUNdaMENTAL Basketball Camp 2011

The FUNdaMENTAL Basketball Camp has moved to Seton Catholic. The camp will continue to offer two weeks of training for both girls and boys.

The girls' camps will run from July 4-8 and July 25-29. There are still some openings remaining for the second week of the boys' camp, which runs July 18-22. The camps are available for students entering grades 4 to 12 and will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with doors opening at 8:15 a.m.

Campers will receive a basketball, t-shirt and camp evaluation. Prices will remain the same. For new campers, it will be $130 for one week and $240 for two weeks. For returning campers, it will be $110 for one week and $220 for two weeks. Camp forms have been sent to area schools.

Summer Hockey Camp 2011

The 2011 American North Sports Center Mite Age Summer Hockey Camp will be held Monday, July 25 through Friday, July 29.

The camp is aimed at players ages 6 through 8 (birth years 2002, 2003 and 2004) or designed for mite and cross-ice players from the 2010-11 hockey season. It will include 2 hourse of on-ice instruction, fun off-ice activities, lunch and snacks daily (included in the camp price).

Conditioning Camp

J&B's Strength and Conditioning 2011 is set to be held at CV Fitness.
Camp dates are Monday through Thursday for weeks beginning June 27,
July 5 (Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday only),
July 11, July 18, July 25 and Aug. 1.

Sessions begin either at 8 a.m. or 9:15 a.m. and run for an hour and a half.

Athletes ranging from age 9-college age may join for any or all of the 6 weeks of training. The camp focuses on proper lifting technique, speed training and core strength including power lifting to help in sports performance in all aspects of sports.

Girls Cardinal Hoop Camp 2011

The Plattsburgh State women's basketball program will host its annual Cardinal Hoop Camp for girls ages 8 to 16 at Memorial Hall on the Plattsburgh State campus from Monday, July 11 through Friday July 15, from 9 AM to 1 PM.

$130 (1st time campers)
$120 (retuning campers)

$50 deposit is due with application. Price includes camp t-shirt and basketball.
