The Altona Youth Soccer Camp will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. from Monday, July 18 to Friday, July 22. The camp is open to all and the fee is $40.

Peru Football Camp

The Peru Indians Youth Football Camp will be held from 9 a.m. until noon on Monday, July 25 through Thursday, July 28 at the Peru Central School Football Complex.

The camp is open to all area youths ages eight to 13 and will feature instruction in the fundamentals of football by present and past Peru coaches.

Outdoor Adventure Program

The Clinton County Youth Bureau and Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department will co-host an Outdoor Summer Adventure Program from August 10 to August 12.

This free three-day program will introduce youth, 14 years of age and older, to such skills as hiking, flat-water kayaking, map reading, environmental and historical issues, team work and outdoor leadership skills. Previous hiking and/or paddling skills are not required. The three-day program will consist of:

Wednesday, August 10: Paddle. Group will flat-water kayak on the Saranac River on Cadyville Beach. The group will learn basic flat-water kayaking skills including forward, reverse, sweep, brace, and sculling strokes. Group will also learn individual and team rescues.

Thursday, August 11: Paddle. Group will flat-water kayak approximately 7.5 miles down the Saranac River from Saranac to the Cadyville Beach. We will discuss; river paddling skills and how they differ from open water (lake) paddling.

Friday, August 12: Hike. Groups will be bussed to Poke-O-Moonshine to hike up this popular mountain.

All equipment will be provided. Being able to swim is required. Pre-registration is required by July 25. For further information on this program, or to pre-register, call the Clinton County Youth Bureau, at 565-4750, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily Monday through Friday.

Basketball Camp 2011

The Hornets' Basketball Camp will be held at the Plattsburgh High School gymnasium for all boys entering grades 7 to 9 from July 18 through July 22 and for boys entering grades 10 to 12 from July 25 through July 29.

The Ameri-Can North Sports Center still has openings for it's August hockey camps.

All camps are directed by Todd Bone and instructors include Owen Fussey, Jason Williams, Kelley Steadman and area highschool players. Preseason Soccer Camp

Friends of North Country soccer will offer a 3-week preseason soccer camp and 6 vs. 6 jamboree for any players preparing for the Fall 2011 modified or JV soccer seasons.

The camp, which consists of a workout, skill sessions, 6 vs. 6 games and a cool down, will begin July 25 and run through Aug. 14. It will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. four to five nights per week and will be split between the Rouses Point Rec Center and Moores. Locations for different nights will be determined prior to the start of the camp.

Registration is free but is limited to the first 30 players to sign up.

Lake Placid Freestyle Camps

The New York Ski Educational Foundation (NYSEF) will offer three freestyle training camps at the Olympic Jumping Complex in Lake Placid this summer.

Camps will be offered July 16 through July 19, Aug. 1 through Aug. 5 and Aug. 13 through Aug. 15. Each camp will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are available to all skiers and snowboarders ages 10 and up. Rates start at $150 per camp.

All applicants must be USASA or USSA members. A USASA membership can be purchased online for $65.

Summer Skating Lessons 2011

The Skating Club of the Adirondacks will offer summer ice skating lessons for all ages and abilities at the Ameri-Can North Sports Center this summer.

The lessons will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 5:45 p.m. and will run from July 12 through Aug. 11.
