Winter Bowling
The Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department is again sponsoring a free bowling program for all school aged children who are residents of the town. There is no cost to the participants. Children can bowl up to three games and receive the shoe rentals at no charge. All areas of the town will bowl at North Bowl Lanes on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. beginning Jan. 3 and continuing for 10 weeks. Registration will be starting at 8: a.m. the first day of bowling. Beartown Ski and Snowboard Club
The Beartown Ski and Snowboard club is a recreational and instructional program for children interested in skiing or snowboarding. The program is for children ages 5 and up.
The club has practices Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Jan. 3 through mid-March, weather permitting. Members do not need to attend every practice; they can choose the schedule that works best for them.

Family Skiing
The Beartown Ski Area plans to open for the season following Christmas, weather permitting. Season passes are available until December 15 at a discounted rate of $190 for adults, $175 for students and $375 for families. After that date, rates will increase to $220 for adults, $200 for students and $440 for families.
The cost for a day pass this year will be $18 for adults and $16 for students. Half-day rates and discounts for members are also available. The cross country trails will be available daily for a nominal fee. The ski area will be open Friday evenings from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Saturdays and all school holidays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Next Skating Session begins
The Skating Club of the Adirondacks will begin a new session Nov. 21-22 at the Plattsburgh State Field House.
Basic Skills lessons will be offered for Snowplow through Basic 8 levels, with a choice of a Saturday or Sunday session. The Saturday lesson schedule for this weekend only is as follows: Basic 4-8 from 8-9 a.m. and Snowplow thru Basic 3, 8:15-9 a.m. The rest of the scheduled Saturday lessons will begin at 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. for each group.
The Sunday sessions for this weekend only will begin with Snowplow thru Basic 3 from 4-4:45 p.m. and Basic 4 to 8, 4:30-5:30 p.m. The remainder of the session will be from 3:45-4:30 p.m. and 4:15-5:15 p.m., respectively

Skating lessons
The Skating Club of the Adirondacks' next session for lessons will begin Oct. 17-18, 2009 at the Plattsburgh State Field House. There is a choice of Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon lessons (or both for an additional fee).
Saturday lessons on Oct. 17 only will be from 8:15-9:15 a.m. (with an 8:30 start time for Snowplow through Basic 3 skaters). All other Saturdays are from 9:30-10:30 a.m. for Basic Skills 4-8 and from 9:45-10:30 for Snowplow Sam through Basic 3.
The Sunday lessons are 3:45-4:30 p.m. for Snowplow- Basic 3 and from 4:15-5:15 for Basic 4-8.

• Clinics will be limited to a maximum of 12 children.
• Clinics must have a minimum of 4 children enrolled per session.
• Fee = $15.00 per clinic or $50 for the entire session *
• Families enrolling multiple children receive a $5 discount per child.
• Registration and payment must be received by October 15th to ensure your child’s spot.
• Confirmation of registration will be made by email.
• Racquets may be purchased for an additional $10.

The North Country Skating Club (NCSC) will hold open registration Wednesday, from 5-7 p.m. at the Rouses Point Recreation Center.
NCSC offers group instruction for basic and freestyle levels Monday and Friday nights. Advanced skaters do not have group instruction. Private lessons are also available; however, arrangements and fees are the responsibility of the skater and instructor.

Learn to Skate
Plattsburgh Youth Hockey is accepting applications for the Learn to Skate program. The program will start Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 and be held Sunday mornings and Wednesday or Thursday evenings for 25-30 sessions at Plattsburgh State. The cost is $60, and equipment rental is $25 (does not include stick or skates).
