Soccer Camp--Beekmantown

Date: August 3-7, 2009

Description: Participants will be placed in groups according to age. All participants must be wearing shin guards and have a filled water bottle. Counselors will consist of soccer coaches, teachers, and former Beekmantown School stars. Each day will include a warm-up and demonstration of the “skill of the day.” Participants will be taught the skills and tactics of the game of soccer, stressing the importance of sportsmanship. Skills covered include dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, heading, and team play/positioning. Each day will end with the participants playing soccer games. Fee includes a soccer ball for each participant.

Volleyball Camp--Beekmantown

Description: This camp will teach participants a
variety of skills in the game of volleyball. Participants will
learn to pass, set, serve, and hit throughout the week. Each
session will include a variety of games, small group lessons
and large group lessons aimed at improving all levels of
players.

Kayaking Camp--Beekmantown

Description: Learn the basics of how to safely enjoy the
beautiful waters of the Lake Champlain Region in the oldest
form of water craft known. Ability to swim is not required,
though recommended. All equipment is provided, including
full lifejackets.

Baseball Camp--Beekmantown

Date: July 27-31, 2009
Time: Monday-Friday, 9:00-11:00 a.m. and
Friday 5:00-12:00 for Vermont Lake Monster Baseball Game
Ages: 3rd grade and up
Director: James Knight
Location: Beekmantown Town Hall Fields

Description: Participants will be taught various fundamental
skills of the game of baseball. A stretching and form
running program will begin each day followed by throwing
and catching activities. Hitting and bunting techniques
along with fielding techniques and base running will be
emphasized. Pitchers will develop skills in the windup and
the stretch. Children will be grouped by age levels. Equipment
necessary for participation should include: sneakers,
rubber cleats, baseball glove, and a water bottle (filled).
Participants should be on the field by 8:55 and picked up by
11:10 daily. Remember to sign up at camp for the Vermont
Lake Monsters (Washington Nationals) game. Bus will
leave the Town Hall at 5:00, Friday 7/31.

camp will be on the basic fundamentals of golf, including basic rules, etiquette, and safety. There will be contests throughout the week on putting, chipping, and driving. The last day of the camp will be at a local golf course, where campers will get a chance to play.

Football Camp--Beekmantown

This camp will teach participants various fundamental skills of the game of football. The camp will feature 7 on 7 games and culminate in a “Skills Challenge” and “Punt, Pass, and Kick” competition on the last two days. Children will be grouped by age levels. This is a non-collision camp. There will not be helmets; equipment necessary for participation
should include sneakers or rubber cleats, form fitted mouth guard, and a filled water bottle.
Residents of Beekmantown: $4.00
Nonresidents: $30.00

The Peru football coaching staff will host its 2009 Youth Football Camp July 20-23, 2009 at the Peru Central School Football Complex. The camp will run from 9 a.m.-noon each day and is open to all area children ages 8-13.

Town Swim Program

Bus transportation for the Town of Plattsburgh's swimming lesson program will begin June 29 for children from North Plattsburgh, Treadwells Mills, Cumberland Head and South Plattsburgh. All areas will be bused to the East Morrisonville Beach for instruction Monday-Friday.

Instructions will be held from noon to 2 p.m. with bus pick-ups and times as follows:(click on title to view entire post)

Cumberland Head, 11:30 a.m.- Corner of Sears Blvd. and Moffett Rd., the Recreation Park, Cumberland Bay Market, Corner of Allen Rd. and Cumberland Head Rd., St. Mary's Church, Gus' Red Hots and Tara Lane.

North Plattsburgh, 11:15 a.m.- May Currier Park, Corners of Facteau Avenue, Melody Lane, Graves Lane and Tom Miller Road; Corners of Wallace Hill Rd. and Michelle and Daytona Blvd.; Corners of Wallace Hill Rd and Bell Rd., Vintage Estates and Rasco Rd.; corner of Military Turnpike and Independence Dr.; corner of Wallace Hill Road Extension and Nightengale Drive.

Town of Schuyler Falls children may also enroll in classes at Cadyville or East Morrisonville.
